Costa Rica BJJ Retreat
Playa Flamingo • Aug 5–10, 2026
Join us for a week of Jiu Jitsu, beach life, and community on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica.
We’ll be staying at Margaritaville Beach Resort in Playa Flamingo and training at the brand new Vector training facility, just a short distance from the hotel.
This retreat is designed to combine focused training with plenty of time to enjoy Costa Rica with your family and other BJJ practitioners from around the world.
Training
Training will follow the same structure we use at Inverted Gear Academy.
Each day will include approximately 3 hours of mat time:
• 1 hour of CLA games
• Open mat rounds
• Q&A and troubleshooting
Arrival day will include a 4 PM welcome open mat to get everyone moving after travel.
The rest of the week will feature morning training sessions, leaving afternoons free.
Training Facility
Training will take place at Vector, a brand new academy in Playa Flamingo featuring:
214 square meters / 2,300 square feet of mat space
This spacious training area allows for comfortable drilling, games, and open mat rounds for the entire group.
Resort & Location
We’ll be staying at Margaritaville Beach Resort Playa Flamingo, located directly across from one of the most beautiful beaches in Guanacaste.
After training, you’ll have the rest of the day to enjoy:
• Swimming and beach time
• Surfing
• Fishing trips
• Sailing and snorkeling
• Pool and resort relaxation
• Restaurants and nightlife in Playa Flamingo

Flights from Newark are currently around $500 round trip, though prices may change.
Airport transportation is included with your retreat package.
